PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, operating as InJourney Airports, has arranged 28 additional flights across six airports to help transport passengers affected by volcanic ash from the Mount Anak Krakatau eruption.
The six airports involved are Kertajati International Airport, Yogyakarta International Airport, Adi Soemarmo Airport in Solo, Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang, and Juanda Airport in Surabaya.
These airports are being used as alternative hubs to keep travel moving during the closure of Soekarno-Hatta Airport in Tangerang, Radin Inten II Airport in Lampung, Halim Perdanakusuma Airport in Jakarta, and Husein Sastranegara Airport, all of which remained closed through 11:59 PM Western Indonesia Time (WIB) on September 7, 2026.
Free Buses to Alternative Airports
“InJourney Airports, together with all regulators and stakeholders including airlines, is committed to supporting public mobility. For passengers affected by the Soekarno-Hatta closure, on September 6-7, 2026, we’re providing free bus transportation to alternative airports in Yogyakarta, Solo, Semarang, and Surabaya,” said Arie Ahsanurrohim, Corporate Secretary Group Head at InJourney Airports, in an official statement on Monday, September 7, 2026.
Breakdown of the 28 Additional Flights
InJourney Airports has received 28 requests for additional commercial flights from airlines, to be operated out of Kertajati International Airport, Juanda Airport in Surabaya, Yogyakarta International Airport, and Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang.
“These additional flights consist of 20 extra flights at Juanda Airport in Surabaya operated by Lion Air (to and from Pekanbaru, Makassar, and Denpasar), Citilink (to and from Denpasar and Batam), and Singapore Airlines (to and from Singapore),” Arie explained.
Additionally, 2 extra flights have been added at Yogyakarta International Airport, connecting to and from Singapore via Scoot. Meanwhile, Ahmad Yani Airport in Semarang has 5 additional flights, including routes operated by Scoot to and from Singapore, along with 1 Singapore-bound flight from Kertajati Airport, also operated by Scoot.
Umrah Pilgrims Also Rerouted
“Kertajati Airport will also be handling 2 Umrah pilgrimage flights to Jeddah and Madinah, operated by Garuda Indonesia, carrying 707 passengers who were originally scheduled to depart from Soekarno-Hatta Airport tonight,” Arie added.
“InJourney Airports remains committed to prioritizing flight safety, while carrying out passenger handling procedures as part of our broader airport service and rapid, safe, and optimal travel recovery efforts,” he concluded.
What This Means for Travelers
If your flight has been affected by the Soekarno-Hatta closure, check whether your airline has added a route through one of these alternative airports, Kertajati, Yogyakarta, Solo, Semarang, or Surabaya, as several major carriers including Lion Air, Citilink, Singapore Airlines, and Scoot have already stepped in with extra capacity. Free bus transport to these alternative airports is also available, making it worth checking with airport staff before assuming your only option is waiting for Soekarno-Hatta to reopen.
